I put within you. This is the reward of obedience. Now, where does this new heart and new spirit come from? One place it comes from is right out of the story of Ezekiel 11. Those that were sighing and crying, that's the promise, is that they get this new heart. They've been scattered and this new heart brings them back into obedience. God's people are going to be the ensign that the Gentiles seek to. From General Conference Daily Bulletin, and an ensign, by the way, is a sign or a banner or a way mark would be another one. There is the highest reason for us to prize the true Sabbath and stand in its defense for it is a sign which distinguishes the people of God from the world. The commandment that the world makes void is the one to which, for this very reason, God's people will give greater honor. It is when the unbelieving cast contempt upon the word of God that the faithful Caleb's are called for. It is then that they will stand firm at the post of duty without parade and without swerving because of reproach. The unbelieving spies stood ready to destroy Caleb. He saw the stones in the hands of those who brought a false report, but this did not deter him. He had a message and he would bear it. The same spirit will be manifested today by those who are true to God. The psalmist says, and here is another place where Sister White is taking a passage out of the Old Testament and speaking of the Sunday Law. The psalmist says, They have made void thy law, therefore I love thy commandments above gold, yea, above fine gold. When men press close to the sight of Jesus, when Christ is abiding in their hearts by faith, their love for the commandments of God grows stronger in proportion to the contempt which the world heaps upon his holy precepts. It is at this time that the true Sabbath must be brought before the people by both pen and voice. As the fourth commandment and those who observe it are ignored and despised, the faithful feel that it is the time not to hide their faith but to exalt the law of Jehovah by unfurling the banner on which is inscribed the message of the third angels and the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Now, the story of the end signs, there are two end signs at the end of the world. The end sign that is lifted up, that draws the Gentiles that are going to follow the Lord into that final group that stands for the Lord at the end of the world is none other than the Sabbath. But it is the whole broad application of the Sabbath. It is the people that are symbolizing the experience of the Sabbath in their life. The Sabbath we know is not only a seal between God and his people, but it is a sign of sanctification. It is a sign of victory over sin. This is the end sign that is lifted up in this passage of Isaiah.
