prophecy speaking about. The Sunday law of Bible prophecy is when Sunday observance is enforced, and Sabbath observance is prosecuted. It's persecuted. Now, other aspects of this passage here in Bible Commentary, Volume 7, 977, that's worth understanding is that after the Sunday law comes national ruin. There will be catastrophes, and we see them in the land today. There will be catastrophes and crisis that lead up to the Sunday law, but everything falls apart at the Sunday law. Now, there are some in Adventism from time to time that teach that perhaps the Sunday law is going to come by an executive agreement that President Clinton is just going to sign it into effect, and that's it. Brothers and sisters, Revelation 13, 11 says the United States will speak as a dragon, and the speaking of a nation according to the spirit of prophecy is an action of its legislative and judicial branches. And in this passage that we just read, Sister White is clear that this nation will, by legislative enactments, enforce the Sunday law. When our nation, in its legislative councils, the Sunday law is going to go through Congress. It's going to be discussed. It's going to be argued. It's going to become an issue in the press of the land. And then it's going to be passed. It is not coming overnight by some kind of secret pronouncement by the President. That is not how prophecy tells us it will come to pass. Now, in our next presentation, we're going to begin to look at the way marks that follow this test. In the Great Controversy, 605, it says this. The Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty, for it is the point of truth especially controverted. When the final test be brought to bear upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who serve God and those who serve him not. While the observance of the false Sabbath in compliance with the law of the state, contrary to the fourth commandment, will be in a vow of the allegiance to a power that is in opposition to God, the keeping of the true Sabbath in obedience to God's law is an evidence of loyalty to the Creator. While one class, by accepting the sign of submission to earthly powers, receive the mark of the beast, the other, choosing the token of allegiance to divine authority, receive the seal of God. It's at the Sunday law that we either receive the mark of the beast or the seal of God when that test is brought to us individually. And we'll take this study up in our next presentation.
