come into the majority of opinion about keeping Sunday will be to be identified in the same category as a racist. So this is exactly where this is designed to go. But let me continue on with this denominational theme out of this book. Why did promise keepers select racial and denominational barriers when it focused on Christian unity? The primary reason, and this is their point of view, this is their book, the primary reason is our sense that the Lord led us to embrace this truth. We must be obedient. Alone, we can't change much. You can't either. But together with a million brothers committed to promise keepers, we can influence a nation. We can demonstrate that what history, the political process, and the legal system could not do, faith, obedience, repentance, and unity in Jesus can change. Next page. OK, then, what can we do? If we're convinced that God desires unity among all believers, each of us needs to reach out to brothers who are different denominationally and ethnic backgrounds. Now, I'm going to give you an example out of their book about where this leads right here. In the opening chapter, and this is a little bit different punchline here, but I want to include this one. In an opening chapter, and the title of the chapter is Why Now? Meaning, why now should promise keepers come together in the chapter after citing the phenomenal growth of promise keepers, which we have referred to you? And if you think you could start a club, or a church, or an organization, and go from 4,200 to 1.1 million in six years, you haven't looked at statistics the way they work. They don't work that way. That is beyond typical human multiplication in organizations. Why now? Why would men sacrifice the time and effort? Why were so many willing to make such profound commitments to change? What had shifted so much that men were open to Jesus now? After prayerful consideration, I could reach only one inescapable conclusion. Now, notice what the answer is here about why now. We are on the threshold of a spiritual awakening. You see these men that are in promise keepers? They believe they're involved with a revival. And before the time of the real revival arrives at the Sunday long time, we're told that Satan will attempt to hinder their work by bringing in, introducing a counterfeit. And brothers and sisters, the counterfeit is underway. Now, in a moment, if we get this far tonight, and I think we might, we're going to look at a quote where, at the time of the Sunday law, one of the reasons, let me just read it.
