that were in here the first night, we began our study with a quote from Cole Porter Ministry that says this, The Great Controversy should be widely circulated. It contains the story of the past, the present, and the future. In its outline of the closing scenes of this earth's history, it bears a powerful testimony on behalf of the truth. I am more anxious to see a wide circulation for this book than for any others I have written. For in The Great Controversy, the last message of warning to the world is given more distinctly than in any of my other books. So part of the reasons of the presentation that I'm doing here is I'm taking passages out of The Great Controversy, hopefully demonstrating to you how they are being fulfilled today before our very eyes, not only to bring the warning to us of those fulfillments that comes when we see those fulfilled, but also to send a secondary message that the book that we should be studying right now is Seventh-day Adventist, and the book that we should be getting into people's hands that don't understand these events is The Great Controversy. So there's a two-fold reason for what we've been going through. We tried to emphasize as we went along that one of the premier issues in The Great Controversy is the truth that Roman Catholicism is once again going to return to control the world. Most people that watch those type things would not necessarily be that amazed by that statement today. Keys of this Blood that was written by a well-known Catholic author maybe 15 years ago now, I don't remember exactly when it was released, plainly states that there's a race on to take control of the world at that time before the collapse of the Soviet Union. The book predicted that the winner of that race would either be the United States, the Soviet Union, or the Vatican, and that's what that whole book was about. So it's not simply that Seventh-day Adventists are teaching that Rome is about to take control of the world. The Catholic Church is teaching it as well if you're reading her writings. And the Catholic theological understanding is that they are the king of this earth currently. It's just that the rest of the world doesn't understand it yet, but very soon we're going to understand that, and they are prepared to take control of this earth. So that's pretty common knowledge today, but one of the things that I've been trying to emphasize is that the time period that the Great Controversy was written was the lowest point in the history of the papacy, and for someone to write that the papacy was going to return to control the world during the 1860-1870 time period would be called absurd. It just wasn't believable back then, but it certainly is believable today, and it demands, when you are confronted with that information, that if you're not familiar with what inspired that book, you become familiar with it. We started with a passage out of the Great Controversy from 573 that gives a sequence of steps that will take...
