grandfathers, they never conquered this way. They never conquered through politics. They conquered through warfare. And it says, he shall scatter among them the prey and the spoil and riches. And this was one of the characteristics of Rome. When they conquered a place, the booty was divided up between the members of the participating army, but also some of the countries that would come along with them and form the treaties. They were also given initially some of the riches. Ultimately, they came under the dominance, the slavery type dominance of Rome. But one of the techniques was to share the wealth as they took the wealth. And this was a technique that the historians clearly identified with the Roman power as it rose to conquer the world. Now, if you look at the last couple of phrases of verse 23, it says that Rome shall forecast his devices against the strongholds. And you can see much discussion about this. And it can be understood that it would, that Rome will forecast his devices from his stronghold. And for me, this seems like the clearest understanding of this verse because the stronghold, those that understand the Hebrew this way, the stronghold that they will say that Rome forecast its devices from was the city of Rome. And in the same sentence where it's saying this, it says even for a time. So what it is saying is that Rome would prosecute its taking control of the world from the city of Rome for 360 years. So when you, when you have a starting point of 31 BC and you put this time prophecy into play and the time prophecy comes to conclusion in 330, you find that in 330, the capital of the Roman empire was moved from the city of Rome to the city of Constantinople. And this is a truth that's directly related to the understanding here that in the beginning of the Roman empire, they were going to forecast their devices from the city of Rome for 360 years. And when the 360 years was up, this stronghold of Rome was no longer going to be a stronghold. Now, another passage here that follows along with this, this part of the history, but needs to be taken in a block, I believe is verses 25, at least down to 28. It's a passage that needs to be understood as a, an overview in a broader way than simply verse by verse. It says, and he shall stir up his power and his courage against the King of the South with the great army and the King of the South shall be stirred up to do battle with the very great and mighty army, but he shall not stand for they shall forecast devices against him.
