characteristics of the United States. But another characteristic of the United States in Bible prophecy is that it has two strengths, military and economic. And I'm not talking about the the two horns of Revelation 13, which were the power of the country, Republicanism and Protestantism. Those are two characteristics of the United States as well. But when in Revelation 13 the United States forces the world to receive the mark of the beast, it's a twofold pressure that it brings on the world. It's economic, and we've seen it for many years in the world today. If you cross the United States, the first thing that they'll do to a country is they'll put an economic boycott on it. The second characteristic is military strength. If the economic boycott doesn't work on a country and the United States wants to apply the next step of pressure, then it sends in its military. These are the two strengths of the United States that we have witnessed in our lifetime, the United States applying around the world. And these are what are identified in Revelation 13, because it says, if you don't have the mark of the beast, you will not be able to buy or sell. Economic. And if you don't have the mark of the beast, you're going to be put to death. Military. This is also represented here in verse 40 of Daniel 11, the chariots and horsemen, you take your concordance. Chariots and horsemen in Bible prophecy, military strength. Ships, economic strength. Throughout the Bible, you can find ships as economic strength, but an easy place to go to is look at Revelation 18 and see what is said about ships and the ship builders and ship owners in Revelation 18. So verse 40 is telling us that a war was going to begin in 1798 between atheism and Catholicism, and that atheism is going to initiate this war and bring the deadly wound to Catholicism. It's going to take it off its throne, bring it to a point where it no longer can control the world politically, but it's going to continue to be a church. But at some point in time, the Catholicism would return and sweep away this atheistic King of the South, which over the time period that elapsed is the Soviet Union. And when it's finally swept away, it would be the Soviet Union because it would be made up of many countries. And when it was swept away by the King of the North, it would bring with it the United States as symbolized by economic and military strength. And the power of this verse, brothers and sisters, is if you go into the history and look at what happened in 1989 when the Soviet Union was swept away, the words that are used in this verse accurately describe the overwhelming speed and how everyone was just amazed how fast it took place.
